Kaposszerdahely

This village of a thousand inhabitants is situated 5 km southeast from Kaposvár, embraced by the beautiful landscape of Zselic. Its name is first mentioned in 1335 as Zerdahel being an estate of the Ders and Szerdahelyi families. Later it was overtaken by the Győr clan. Administratively it belonged to Szenna. The municipality consisted of the mansions of Pálóczy and Csörsz families, belonging manorial buildings and some houses. There were 574 dwellers in 1960, in 1980 - 725. This number has been constantly growing since then. Intellectuals and artists came to live here. In the surrounding the Tokaji Parkerdő and the lake Pazederjási give a nice opportunity for distraction. The Wild Flower Trail leads through Kaposszerdahely which scupltures were carved by a carver working locally. The village received two scupltures as a present from the Transsylvanian partner municipality: the belfry - erected in the cemetery while the composition of two kopjas (wooden headboards) at the Trianon monument.
