Kaposmérő
The municipality of Kaposmérő is found in Somogy county, along the main road No. 610, 8 km from Kaposvár, stretching on 1398 hectars and it has 2572 inhabitants. Mérey family got the estate of the village from the king Béla IV. in 1246. The name of the village was derived from the name of this family and the first element in its name (kapos) refers to the river. From the hills of Zselic one can clearly see the two 18th century churches. The first local museum was the Barn Museum opened on 15th June 2007. at 27 Rákóczi utca and it presents the 19th-20th century village life. On the border between Kaposmérő and Bárdudvarnok the Kassai Valley excells among the local sightseeings where presentations and open days provide opportunity to get closer to the horseback archery. The Bison farm gives an insight into the breeding of these animals. László Gelencsér, their owner, also makes bows.
