Kaposgyarmat

The pearl of Zselic – this is how the local patriots call Kaposgyarmat, this tiny flowery village hugged by forests and located only 17 km from the county centre Kaposvár. The forests consist of associations of silver lime and beech but we can also find the associations of hornbeams and sessile oaks whose understory vegetation is made up of a colourful flower carpet in spring: liverleafs, primroses and windflowers bloom in spring after which the spring vetch, Corydalis solida and white helleborine open while yellow irises gleem yellow on watershores. Deers, wild boars and roedeers are charactersitic of the game, at the pond chain specific bird association found its habitat. Jókút is one of the local sightseeings. According to its legend the spring which supplies the well bears miraculous powers. The locals say a woman unable to walk dreamed the location of the water spring and the water from there (taken by her husband) healed her. Vörösalma - hiding in the vicinity of the village used to be inhabited but today only a hunting lodge is found there.
