Kaposfő
The name of Kaposfő was Szomajom until 1942. It is found in the central part of Somogy (Inner Somogy) 15 km westwards from Kaposvár. During the Árpád dynasty the village was a crown land - can be read in a diploma from 1275. The name Kaposfő preserves the memory of two pusztas –already inhabited in the Middle Ages- Alsókaposfő and Felsőkaposfő. Here we find the spring of the river Kapos. Its terrain is rather a plain, lower hills rise only in the northern part. The municipality counts 571 houses. A bike path stretches along the main road No. 61 which is advatageous concerning tourism. It is worth visiting the country house Bödő, renovated in 2013 where they regularly organize traditional Christmas and Easter playhouses, presentations about healthy living as well as traditional Swabian and Hungarian dance presentations.
