Gölle

This village is situated on the border of Somogy and Tolna counties. On a public road we can get there from Igal via Büssü and Kisgyalán. The nearest railway stop is in Baté. Gölle has had well known soils and quality livestock. The farmers won several medals on such exhibitions. Several smaller pusztas (farmsteads) were established in connection with farming but the majority of them does not exsist any more. Gölle is a native village of István Fekete (1900-1970) who lived here until the age of 11. The love for peasants’ life, nature and the native village influenced his entire life. His autobigraphical novel Ballagó idő (Trudging time) is about his childhood and youth spent in Gölle and Kaposvár. His house of birth, a former teacher’s house built in 1888 shows his career and the memories of his ties to his native sourrounding.
