Bárdudvarnok

Bárdudvarnok

Bárdudvarnok is a village situated hardly 10 km southwest from Kaposvár in one of the most beautiful hilly parts of Inner Somogy, in the Zselic Nature Conservation Area. The municipality and its surrounding is one of the largest administrative areas of Hungary because it administers sixteen municipality-parts scattered on several square kilometres which is unique even on the national level. Towards Kadarkút we find Bárdibükk where the Goszthony castle and its impressive park are scenic spots. Opposite the castle there is the Goszthony mansion, the seat of the International Glass Symposium, where the Internatioanl Glass Symposiums have been organized since 1991 on the week of the 20th August. Here you can see the memorial exhibition of the painter and ceramist Mária Goszthony (1893-1989) and the exhibition of the artefacts of the symposion sessions. The Petörke lake stretcehs in the Petörke Valley. Lovers of angling may cast for big fish buying a day ticket. Those fond of water can have a swim or have a sunbathe on the shore. Following the ex-railway path (parallel with the main road) along the present bike route starting from Bárd we get to Zsippó where one can visit the bird park and then Lipótfa and finally Bánya where a resort village was built.
